About Face!

We are reminded that "a face has launched a thousand ships," according to Christopher Marlowe referring to Helen in Homer's Odyssey. Yet what most of us forget is that Helen was 12 years old! What child isn't precious and beautiful (and certainly worth sending out a rescue mission for) at age 12? No disrespect, but I would have launched a similar mission had my son been kidnapped, regardless of what his face looked like.

Fast forward, here we are, still obsessed with youthful beauty a million years later (give or take a few million). So much so that a major portion of our economy is driven by our deep fear of being ugly and unlovable. Sadly, despite our knowledge that fecundity is at the root of this propaganda, most of us have been hypnotized to believe that we must alter the natural course of time-hack up, needle and bleed our faces-in order to avoid this possible dejection or, eventually, reality.

But what if I told you that your attempts to reverse the aging process, while making you appear younger, might also force you to repeat life lessons already braved (and perhaps barely survived) in your teens, twenties and so on? What if erasing your crow's feet or laugh lines actually sucks the joy right out of you? Or having that nose job could radically shift your ability to live a rich and abundant life? (Ever wonder why Barbra Streisand didn't get one?) That altering your hairline could change the course of your life forever...and not in a good way? According to expert Jean Haner's book, The Wisdom of Your Face, every line and wrinkle, mole and crevasse on your face actually means something important, and before you go erasing it you may want to consider the potential consequences.

Chinese face reading is an ancient branch of Chinese medicine, which teaches that you are born with a personal blueprint that is yours and yours alone, and that this inner architecture can be read in your outer design-the features of your face.

Your face reflects your true inner spirit, who you came here to be and what you came here to learn. The wisdom written there explains why you think, feel, and behave as you do, and answers two of the most important questions you need to ask yourself in life: Who am I and what is my calling?

"Each of your features has a message for you about who you really are inside, the kind of work that will bring you joy, what relationships will be fulfilling for you, and most of all, how to feel compassion for yourself and everyone you encounter."

While being attractive is nice and has some benefits, someone wanting to hump you isn't really one of them, is it? Never mind the harshness of that ego reality, the truth is there will always be someone younger and more attractive than you, so why not hedge your bets and spend more attention dealing with the inner work as-surprise-says Jean Haner. "Doing the inner work will soften all those lines and wrinkles naturally as your inner radiance shines through!" Think of Juliette Binoche, a natural beauty unafraid to furrow her brow or raise her eyebrows and show us her badges of honor striped across her forehead. Or, heck, Mother Theresa; while not known for being a ship launcher per se, she had a face whose radiance and devotion none of us will ever forget.

So next time you consider sticking a needle in your third eye, take a deep breath and ask yourself, who defines your worth? What will looking younger really do for you? When will you be ready to get older? How do you want to be remembered?

"I get we all want to look great, but I would choose a face covered with laugh lines, a furrowed brow and whatever map that reflects life well lived over a paralyzed and joyless face any day!" Michael, 49, CA

Why not join the ranks of women who are giving up the needle and deciding to grow into maturity more naturally...or as naturally as we can stand? You'll be setting a great example of defying gravity for your daughters and generations to come, and in the meantime you'll also be a sending a message to our consumer society that banks on us feeling unattractive and insecure so they can drive profits into THEIR pockets! Why not take a stand and be beautiful from the inside out?

We would also love to hear your natural secrets on how you stay healthy and glowing! Send them to info@maryannelive.com and we'll post them on our site. Bye for now, my beauties!

What Should I Use For The Wrinkles Around My Eyes?

Clients often ask two intertwined questions, "why do I have these?" and "what should I use for wrinkles around my eyes?" You know what they're talking about, don't you? They're referring to those little lines, the ones that extend out from the outer corner of your eye (on either side, of course). They are what is known in the business as periorbital wrinkles.

On the street, and (if you're like most people) to your mirror, they're known as crows feet. No matter how twinkly your eyes are, they're overshadowed by those wrinkly folds. Face it, there's no getting away from them, not if you're living a full and happy life. The more you laugh and smile, the more those annoying little lines etch into your skin.

What to do? Right this very moment - stop laughing, and cut out smiling. And don't even thinking about a grin or a guffaw because that will be the end of smooth skin. Nope, you need to develop a facade of calm - totally unperturbed by anything and everything. Of course, you'll eventually become known as the weird lady or strange guy who lives down the road and never cracks a smile. But, hey, that's the price you have to pay for keeping those wrinkles from getting a (crows) foothold.

Can you live like that? Very few people can, or want to. Not to worry, there's still something you can do and it's the answer to the second question. There are several doctor recommended treatments for crows feet, and which one is appropriate for you depends on how much joy you've experienced and shared in your lifetime. If your life has been generally "satisfactory" and the evidence of it isn't too terribly etched in your face, then simple Botox treatment may be adequate for your needs.

When you are the type of person who smiles and giggles at every opportunity, laughs long and hard, embraces life, living it always to the fullest, then your face will reflect your bliss. When you've lived a life like that, it shows. So you may ask, "what should I use for the wrinkles around my eyes?" Well, you can accept them as a badge of honor - clear evidence that you find joy in everything about you - or you can ask your aesthetic doctor about Botox cosmetic injections to relax those pesky lines and get on with having a full, fun life!

What is the best wrinkle cream? Well some of the best anti aging face products available on the market whether OTC (over the counter) or sold online to save retail costs, are those which include Retinol and Resveratrol.

Retinol is essentially one of the most powerful peptide creams, depending on the manufacturer, that helps stimulate the growth of new collagen, the molecules that keep your skin tight, firm, replenished and glowing.

Resveratrol on the other hand is one of the latest ingredients which is now applied to topical anti wrinkle creams to add additional benefits.

Resveratrol Face Cream Benefits:

Unfortunately it's difficult to find over the counter products that will deliver a refund if it has already been opened and tampered with, but shopping online does give you that added advantage of a three moth or six month money back guarantee, which is obviously essential when it comes to anti-aging skin products as results won't happen overnight.

Are You Eating The Top Anti Aging Foods?

If you don't already eat healthy, there is no time like the present to start. The first thing you will need to do is examine your diet as a whole and see where you can make improvements. Perhaps you already eat fairly healthy, or maybe you just believe that you do. If you tend to eat a lot of "snack" type foods that are packaged, then this is your first mistake. Here is how you examine your diet and determine your habits:

1. Do you eat a lot of processed or packaged foods? If so, you need to eliminate these foods, where possible. Packaged/processed foods contain many ingredients that are virtually indigestible by your body, including artificial color, preservatives, high fat, salt and excessive sugar. Sugar elevates your insulin levels which in short causes you to store fat. This in turn elevates your triglycerides and sets you up for cardio vascular disease. Excessive sugar can have a detrimental effect on your health too. Too much sugar in your diet can draw on your body's stores of micro nutrients in order to metabolize the sugar. This has the effect of decreasing your body's ability to metabolize cholesterol which creates higher fatty acid storage around organs, and helps to promote obesity. Sugar consumption contributes towards many degenerative diseases. This is the number one reason to reduce sugar from your diet, whenever possible. If you like sweets, look for foods that have natural sugar, such as fruits. Berries are an excellent choice, and they are a wonderful anti aging food because they contain phytochemicals known as flavonoids which are an excellent anti oxidant. Berries are also an anti inflammatory and can reduce the pain from chronic diseases including arthritis and osteoporosis.

2. Do you eat a lot of white grains? White grains, pasta and rice are over processed foods that contain little or no nutritional value. Instead of choosing these kinds of foods, go for whole grains. This means whole grain bread, brown rice and whole wheat pasta. It might take you a bit of time to get used to the different taste, but in the long run you will be far better off, these complex carbohydrates will give you consistent energy and keep you feeling full and satisfied, so that you are much less likely to reach for snacks that are high in fat or sugar because fiber is a great appetite suppressant. Whole grains can offer your body protection from heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancer and diabetes. Refined or white grains are processed so much that most of the nutritional value is removed.

3. Omega 3 and fatty acids - if you do not eat fish that is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, you should be. If you can, try to eat fish, such as salmon and tuna at least one time per week. If you cannot stand fish at all, you can still take supplements daily and eat foods like flaxseed and walnuts. These essential fatty acids can make you feel healthier and improve your mood as well as your attitude. Feeling happy and having a better mood is an excellent way to feel young and vibrant.

4. Like wine? Red wine is good (in moderation) - a glass or two each day can support your health because it contains resveratrol, a super anti oxidant. Research even shows that regular amounts of resveratrol can counteract damage within your heart and brain caused by cell death. If you do not like red wine, you can get these same effects from drinking tea - black, green, white and oolong which have the most powerful health benefits over herbal teas.

5. Exchange fatty proteins for lean protein. Skinless poultry, lean beef and pork, eggs and dairy that is rich in protein such as yogurt and low fat cheese can help you to get the protein that you need to keep your muscle mass. Muscle mass keeps your metabolism up, which prevents you from storing fat. If your muscle mass begins to decline (1 percent per year after age 40), your metabolism begins to drop and you will gain weight more easily.

Take a good multivitamin daily. Most multivitamins also include the essential minerals that you need in a day. Vitamin C is a powerful anti oxidant that helps to keep your skin looking young as it wards off free radicals that cause damage to the skin and its appearance.

There are also hormonal factors linked directly with how our body ages. Science has identified a specific hormone and studies have been done on how it, or lack thereof, significantly affects our physical age compared to our chronological age. Could this hormone be the key to retaining or regaining a youthful look? Find out in this thought-provoking anti aging article at http://www.best-hgh-releasers.com/antiaging-hgh-releasers.html

What Are Amino Acids

What are amino acids? Have you ever eaten a piece of chicken, beef, fish or drank a dairy whey shake. These are component proteins that are broken down in the digestive track. They are broken down into constituent parts called amino acids.

These components are utilized by the body to rebuild body proteins from your hair to your feet and affect many bodily functions.

They are essential to cell maintenance, function and regeneration. They form antibodies to fight viruses and boost the immune system.

They are an integral part of the hormone and enzyme system function.

They build muscle, boost metabolism (for weight loss) and carry oxygen throughout the body.

As you can see they are critical for existence.

This page we will list the non essential aminos and their function. They can be produced in the body.

Usually they are produced from a chemical transformation of an essential amino acid or combination there of. Non essentials are just as important as the essential aminos

The difference is the essentials must be received by food or supplement.

I think it is important to understand that just because the body can produce the non essentials that does not mean it will.. In such cases, supplementation must occur.

Check the ailments and health benefits below.

Aminos are very effective in restoring health.

Non essential amino acids

Alanine- prostate health, nervous system, antibody production, sugar regulation (diabetics), eliminates toxins.

Arginine - erectile dysfunction, arthritis, bone health, HGH releaser, heart, hypertension, blood flow, collagen for skin, weight loss, mental acuity, cancer, and tumors.

Asparagine - Amino acid converter, helps mood swings, balances brain and nervous system

Aspartic acid- Increases testosterone, chronic fatigue, PH balance, metabolism, stamina +endurance, drug user rehab, brain function, immune system (produces antibodies).

Cysteine- powerful antioxidant, second hand smoke, iron absorption, respiratory congestion-asthma, bronchitis etc, repairs chemotherapy damage, hair growth, arthritis, heavy metals and AIDS.

Glutamic acid-- neurotransmitter, brain fuel, learning, memory, behavioral disorders, prostate, treats epileptic seizures, treats hypoglycemic comas, readily converts to glucose, detoxifies liver

Glutathione- Antiaging, cell regeneration, removes toxicity from drug medication, removes lead +mercury, fights 69 different diseases, energy, heart and lung function, most potent antioxidant.

Glycine- constructs RNA and DNA, neurotransmitters, regulates bile, leg ulcers, prostate, stroke, epilepsy, Schizophrenia, calcium absorption, energy, regulates sugar levels (diabetes), anemia, Chronic fatigue, arterial plaque, digestive health, melanoma and tumors.

Glutamine- brain intellectual functioning, stabilizes blood sugar (diabetics), digestive track, ulcers, colitis, bowel function, protein synthesis (protein to body tissue), PH balance, Ammonia elimination, anti- inflammatory, arthritus, connective tissues, epilepsy, fatigue, male impotence, Schizophrenia, Immune system, decreases hunger

Proline- collagen, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, joints, back pain, stiffness, arthritis, immune system and heart muscle development

Serine- mental acuity, concentration, memory, produces tryptophan, fatigue, and fibromyalga

Taurine- vision, nerve function, anxiety, protects from toxic poisons, congestive heart failure, cholesterol, mineral cell balance, epileptic seizures, obesity and weight loss, glucose and insulin balance, diabetics, muscle maintenance

Carnitine- Heart attack, angina, congestive heart failure, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, peripheral vascular circulation, kidney and dialysis, and weight loss.

What are amino acid deficiencies?

What are amino deficiences caused by? Good question. The answer lies in poor diet, poor protein sources, poor absorption, the inability of the body to break down proteins into amino acids and the inability of the body to convert one amino acid to another.

Aminos are critically important. Supplementation is necessary for youthful skin, muscle, strength, energy, endurance and overall vitality.

They are the antiaging secrets no one is really talking about.

Why? Few really understand how they function. But you can literally stop heart problems, arthritis and a whole host of ailments. That is why I listed above the ailments next to each amino acid.

How about weight loss? Did you know there are aminos that actually target weight loss in the mid section. Yea! I actually ran a test and proved it.

How about clear skin? Want to get rid of crows feet, lines and sagging skin without surgery? Very possible with the correct application of aminos.

The list goes on and on.

So how do I know which aminos I am lacking? A couple of ways. One--by the ailments you may be suffering? Two--by blood or urine analysis which is the most accurate way.

Many different tests are available online and vary from about $200--$300 dollars for a fasting blood, blood spot or urine analysis.

The most cost effective way is to ask your doctor for an amino acid profile next time you go for a physical. The test will show the limits and whether you are high or low concerning a particular amino acid.
